M.2 SSD

So I've been looking at M.2 SSDs for a while now and I was planning on the Western Digital Green 480 GB for $60 which in my place is a good deal. Then I few days ago I came across a  video that some M.2 SSDs are faster etc etc. All I need is 256 - 480 GB of storage do you guys think the Western Digital Green performs good? Or do you guys have better suggestions?

There are 6 performance ranges of M.2 SSDs, M.2 SATA without DRAM cache, M.2 SATA with DRAM cache, M.2 PCIe 3.0 x2 without DRAM, M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 without DRAM, M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 with DRAM, M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 with DRAM. If this is just storage and not even a boot drive, M.2 SATA without DRAM like the WD Green is fine, faster than HDDs with the spinning disk though worse than SSDs in general. At least its capacity is quite high so durabiliy and speed is better than the 120gb and 240gb variants.

There is almost not any difference.

Mvne Gen 3x4 are a bit faster

Wait holdup what's a M.2 Sata and M.2 PCIe? sorry I'm dumb. What about the XPG SX8200 Pro? 256GB for $60 which is almost half the size of the WD Green 480 GB same price.

M.2 NVMe = M.2 PCIe, though the revision of transfer standard is no longer specified this way

A bit too small, and it's not like you'll feel the difference between M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 with DRAM and M.2 SATA with DRAM in your use case.

Only the size is the problem right? What about it's performance? 

I currently use a Kingston A400 and it says it has 500 MB/s Read and 320 MB/s write. then I searched some info 

WD Green Read and Write Speed 545MB/s   Intel SSD 660p Sequential Read Up to 1500 MB/s Write Up to 1000 MB/s   XPG SX8200 Pro   Read 3500 MB/s Write 3000 MB/s.

TBH I don't really want to spend over $60 if possible. I'm assuming that the WD Green will have similar performance to my current Sata SSD so let's cross that out. Is there a big difference between the Intel SSD 660p Series and XPG SX8200 Pro? Read 1500 MB/s Write 1000 MB/s vs 3500 Mb/s read 3000 MB/s write looks like a big difference but what about the actual performance? And what M.2 would you buy if you have $60?

1 more thing. does read and write speed affect boot time?

Not that much, but QLC drives like the 660p leads to more serious slow downs as you approach the max capacity. You cant even buy ~250GB 660p afaik

no, it's something you can find in some reviews but not official specs. Dont bother looking at factory specs so much, they dont mean very much

Damn that's hella cheap. 480 - 512GB M.2 NVMe in my place are all at $85 +
