I'm planning on doing something with my PC in the near future and I'm stuck with 3 choices

At the moment, my build consists of -

AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz (OC'd to 4.2GHz)

8GB DDR3 1866MHz Memory

Sapphire R9 280x 3GB GPU

750W 80+ Bronze Corsair PSU

#1 - I was thinking about adding another R9 280x, but I'm a bit concerned that my power supply might not be able to handle it. Plus, some games aren't very crossfire-friendly.

#2 - I could go with a simple replacement for my 280x and just grab an R9 290. Though I did JUST put this 280x in, I could maybe sell it for a few bucks considering they shot up in price a few days after release (I was lucky enough to get mine        for $300)

#3 - I could completely go in a different direction and switch to Nvidia by picking up a 780ti. I have never had any Nvidia products in any of my machines, so it would be new to me.

So I would like some help weighing these options. Some things I want to consider would be possible bottleknecking, sufficient PSU, and just generally what might push out the best performance when added to my system. Any advice is appreciated.

Yepp definetly upgrade your CPU first.

your 4300 will bottleneck pretty hard if you go with either of your 3 options. Especially 1 & 3.

Edit: Welcome to the forums btw!

Thanks! Any CPU you might suggest that doesn't involve me replacing everything in my system?

What's your budget? And for what purposes are you gonna use it?

If you want to keep your Mobo your only option would be the 8350 or the 8320.

For the processor, I expect to spend $200-$300 possibly. I'm upgrading because I would like a smoother experience with my games. I forgot to state what my motherboard is, my apologies.

Motherboard - Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AM3+

Mh the combination of PCIe 2.0 and any AMD CPU will probably bottleneck a 780ti/2x 280x.

If you want the true gaming experience, for about 350$ you can get a 4670k + a decent Gigabyte mainboard.

But if you overclock an 8350, you could be ok, although for those kind of systems I would always go Intel to be honest.

Edit: You will need a decent cooling solution for an 8350 in that case too.
