Cpu temperature error

I built my pc a year and a half ago and it’s been working perfectly but yesterday when I turned it on it was extremely slow. I mean takes ten minutes to open google chrome slow. And then the power just shut off and I booted it back up and was greeted with cpu temperature error. The fans in it are incredibly loud when I turn it on. Now I can’t open the desktop for 15 seconds without it turning off and booting it back up to the  message cpu temperature error. I cleaned all the dust out made sure all the fans were working everything is connected fine. I reapplied thermal paste and still nothing works.

can anyone help me troubleshoot my problem 

I’m using an i58600k with the cooler master ml240 liquid cooler.

i have never overclocked my cpu.

edit: there is also a burning smell from my cpu

seems like the pump might be dead on your AIO.

You should take it out and see if something is burned then

I think you need to get that checked asap and turn off the pc lol

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"
