MSI x470 Gaming Pro Connector Issues

Hi guys, here's my problem.

 

I have a MSI X470 running a Ryzen 2600X on a RMX series RM550x 2018 PSU. My mobo has a 8 + 4 pin configuration for the CPU but the 550x clearly doesn't have one. I've read tons of conflicting info on whether or not i need that extra 4pin plugged in or not, so my questions are simple. 

 

What are some good options for a PSU replacement that will cover all the Mobo's pin requirements, in my case the 8 + 4 for the CPU. Would a Supernova G3 work or a RMX750 work? I've looked at the backplate pictures for both and the G3 has clear indicators for CPU1 and CPU2. The RMX750 backplate doesn't have anything like that. I'm not well-versed in terminology so, help me out here. 

 

I'd like to get this solved as fast as possible so I can buy a new PSU on black friday which just so happens to be running here until the 17th. I dunno if i will want to do massive overclocking but even so, I'd like to get all my bases covered. 

 

Are there other PSUs I'm not paying enough attention to? I've only mentioned these two because they're perfect for my budget and have decent reviews. 

 

Full relevant specs:

 

MSI x470 gaming pro

 

Ryzen 2600x with stock cooler

 

GTX 970

 

1 sata SSD

 

16gb ram dual channel

 

5 molex LED case fans

 

I'm planing on buying either a 2060 super or waiting until Nvidia launches the purportedly cheaper 3000 series, adding another sata SSD/HDD, eventually an AIO or a superior air CPU air cooler, and maybe 16more gigs of 3000ram. No water cooling, complex RGB installations or anything like that are in plan. 

 

Will the RMX750 give me what I'm looking for or not? I'm leaning towards that one since it has a very good price. But, the indicators on the backplate are not so intuitive for me as the ones on the EVGA supernova G3 so i'm not sure what's what.

If you dont do crazy overclock, it should be fine, im rocking my ryzen 7 3700x with oc with only 8pin connector.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

You do not need more ram if gaming.

New storage and gpu could be good.

Your cpu does not need aio and does not need superior air cooling, hyper 212 black edition rgb will do

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

That I understand, but I'm still too stressed about my CPU getting rekt from that missing extra 4pin connector. I know that this shouldn't happen but one can't simply discard the idea of manufacturing flaws. So what I'm more interested in now is solving the PSU debate before moving on to a new GPU. Still happy with the gtx970, still runs AC Odyssey on high with over 60 fps and minimal afterburner OC, so that's that. But i'm just too scared to risk using XMP profile clocking for the CPU and RAM. Although, I should mention that the 2600x easily gets to 4ghz when needed, without activating any xmp in the bios so at least there's that. But it's also the reason I'm scared to push it with maxed out CPU-intensive games.

Do not worry about ram, your 24pin mobo power will hadle it. But for your cpu 8 pin is enough, since your cpu consumes less power than mine and mine runs fine with oc with only 8 pin

none of the ryzen CPUs use up enough power to require the extra 4-pin on any normal overclock.

And what about if I want to stick an RTX super GPU / AMD 5700XT in my build? Wouldn't that also eventually require a PSU upgrade?
