deciding what to upgrade (cpu and motherboard) gpu

So i have a i5-7400 cpu and a gtx 1060 3bg im trying to decide if i should upgrade my cpu or gpu and what should i upgrade them too. I was thinking upgrading my cpu or a ryzen 5 3600. and my gpu to maybe a 2070 super or like a 5700xt. 

If you need more info i can give it to you.

 

CPU-i5-7400

Gpu-gtx 1060 3gb 

motherboard- not for sure

ram-32gb

storage- 1TB and going to get an ssd

cooler- stock intel cooler

psu-500 WATT

what is your upgrade budget though?

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

 

CURRENT PC SPECS    

CPU             : Ryzen 5 3600 (Formerly Ryzen 3 1200)

GPU             : ASUS RX 580 Dual OC (Formerly ASUS GTX 1060 but it got corroded for some odd reasons)

GPU COOOER      : ID Cooling Frostflow 120 VGA (Stock cooler overheats even when undervolted :()

MOBO            : MSI B350m Bazooka

MEMORY          : Team Group Elite TUF DDR4 3600 Mhz CL 16
STORAGE         : Seagate Baracudda 1TB and Kingston SSD
PSU             : Thermaltake Lite power 550W (Gonna change soon as i dont trust this)
CASE            : Rakk Anyag Frost
CPU COOLER      : ID-Cooling SE 207
CASE FANS       : Mix of ID cooling fans, Corsair fans and Rakk Ounos (planned change to ID Cooling)
DISPLAY         : SpectrePro XTNS24 144hz Curved VA panel
MOUSE           : Logitech G603 Lightspeed
KEYBOARD        : Rakk Lam Ang

HEADSET         : Plantronics RIG 500HD

Kingston Hyper X Stinger

 

and a whole lot of LED everywhere(behind the monitor, behind the desk, behind the shelf of the PC mount and inside the case)

On second thought sell that whole thing for $500 and start over

@Martin2132 this is for my friend and I think it’s like 350 but he will throw in a little more if it’s worth it to get the performance

actually, i might agree with @Plutosaurus if you can manage to sell it for about $500. with about $850, you can already build a Ryzen 3600 +RX5700.

 

 

if not,id say upgrade the GPU to a 5700 but that will be bottle necked by the CPU. so if you can still stay with the gaming on 1060 3gb, upgrade the CPU. then if you have  money in the future, get the GPU upgrade.
