Hello,

So i´m getting fiber network (500/100) this week. My problem is that the cable comes in at the wrong side of the house and on the wrong floor. I need a cable for my computer and need more Wi-Fi coverage on the second floor but don´t really know how to make that happen easy. I have never built a "home-solution" before with consumer grade hardware. Any good ideas on how I should do it?

Just use a really long Ethernet cable to the router.

Well that is one solution but that does not give my wifi on the second floor. I can use a router as a switch/extender but don´t really know how

Connect it to a router that also has Wi-Fi.

I belive this one will bottleneck your Wifi a little bit but it serves well as an example. You can search for an access point in your Wifi Speed range on Websites like Amazon etc.

Ideally you would want to have your wireless AP's connected via ethernet. I would ask the the tech they send to your house about creating new runs to the locations you need.

 

Run 1: OTM to preferred router location

Run 2: Router location to your PC location

Run 3 Router location to preferred WAP location

 

Or

 

Run 1: OTM to your PC location (Put the router there)

Run 2: Router to preferred WAP location
