Hey guys I apologise in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong section, I tried doing some research for a month now and additional steps but I couldn't figure out why my PC is running slow. It's quite new (A month or two old) but occassionally my PC would run slow in general tasks and gaming. Below is what I have tried:

  • Malware checks from 3 different programs.
  • CCleaner to remove junk.
  • Defragged.
  • Uninstalled programs that I don't use.
  • Fully Reset the PC.

Below is the details of the built computer in question:

  • AMD Ryzen 3700X
  • 16GB RAM
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super
  • ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS

I don't have a great understanding of computers but I was hoping someone could guide me in a direction that could possibly sort this out. I'm not sure if I need to download software to diagnose the issue or if it's a very simple fix but I'll be incredibly greatful if you guys have a solution.

Try downloading HWinfo64 to check your CPU and GPU temps.  Do the slow downs seem to occur based on how intense the computing is or just based on how long your computer is running?  Also trying going into your BIOS and check your RAM speed.  Ryzen likes fast RAM and it usually runs at 2133 by default, even if your are running say a 3200 kit.  There should be a setting for extreme memory profile which will let you set your RAM to the rated speed.

I've downloaded HWinfo64 and I'll include the temps below:

CPU:

  • Minimum - 34.6 °C
  • Maximum - 51.1 °C
  • Average - 43.9 °C

GPU:

  • Minimum - 24 °C
  • Maximum - 26 °C
  • Average - 25 °C

It's a bit of a mixture, when I run the computer for long periods of time, it does start to slow down over time. When I also decide to run a game or program that could be somewhat "intense", it starts to slow down the whole system dramatically.

Also regarding the RAM, I have 2x8GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance (3600). I'm not sure how to do a lot of the computer stuff, I'll try looking around to see if I can find a tutorial for you on how to check the RAM speed.

Edit: After some research, I found the RAM speed through 2 options to try and get an accurate response.

  • CPU-Z - 1064.5 MHz
  • BIOS - 2133 MHz

Hope this helps!
