Need help upgrading

Ghost1801

Good day smart people ?

My Computer is as follow:

i7-4770k with H100i cooler

16gig ram DDR3

msi gd-63 motherboard

corsair RX850 PSU

and MSI R9 290 4gb GPU

Just bought an MSI 32’ 1440p 144 hz monitor and now my gpu is struggling a bit with todays games on medium to low settings.

I would like to upgrade to an 2080ti but in my Country its almost $2000 just for the MSI TRIO X 2080ti???

So I’m looking at a MSI TRIO X 2080 Super or MSI sea hawk 2080 Super...

Was wondering must I wait for Nvidia to launch their new GPUs and then catch the price drop specials or maybe get their new architecture gpus, but definitely want the Ray Tracing goodies ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated ?

If you keep waiting, you'll never be able to buy your card. Just buy what you need for now. A good alternative would be to go with AMD. Consider the AMD Radeon 5700XT, its good for 1440p gaming and much cheaper.

Your processor is also a bit old. A 2080ti will work, but you might start to experience bottlenecks on higher end AAA games especially if you ramp up settings on the more CPU intensive titles like Assassin's Creed.

Your going to need a CPU upgrade your going to run into some bottlenecks.

As far as GPU's I would look into the 5700 or 5700xt

After my Gpu upgrade, because its the bottleneck at this moment. I’m definitely considering the new AMD RYZEN cpus as my next upgrade...

but how is the 5700XT compared to the 2080 Super in games? Because all the reviews I see show 1080p gaming at max and I’m looking for 1440p gaming real world experience.

The 2080 Super is going to outclass the 5700XT in many games.

The 5700XT was made to compete with the 2070ti/super. But with that said, it's still a good GPU for 1440p gaming at high-ultra settings.

I’ll definitely consider the 5700XT now on my picking list of cards, just waiting for the Black Friday specials and see which card lands in my rig...

And then another question, which brand would you guys prefer? I’m a guy that likes cooler temp cards...

The Red Devil or the Sapphire Nitro+ are one of the best 5700XT cards so far in terms of temps in my opinion. Don't get the ASUS TUF one as its been reviewed by several youtubers and found out it has bad cooling.
