Im bad at stuff. I want to know if an hdmi to DP works with getting high refresh rates. And if not, my laptops display is 60 hrtz, i want to get a high refresh rate monitor, but i dont have djsplay port ports. I have hdmi and thunderbolt(dont know if i can get an output from that) I want to know how to get hrr. Thx

HDMI can't be convert to DP (technically can, but not recommended)

 

HDMI 1.3 or above should be able to handle 120hz @1080p ,so 144hz monitor, will cap at 120hz

Newer laptop should already have HDMI 2.0 and it could handle up to 240Hz @1080p

If your laptop has HDMI ver. below 1.3 then it will cap at 60hz. no high refresh rate for u.
