Standalone Music Players

Thoughts on using standalone music players instead of phones for music playback?

My personal opinion?  It's an obsolete necessity.  Phones will do it, to carry something else is just extra bulk and hassle.  No need for that inconvenience.  Of course many phones these days don't have headphone jacks, so I can imagine that being an issue, but you're better off just ruling those out when making your choice, or if worst comes to worst, just using the dongle.  Both are still easier than carrying a whole extra device.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Bold claim. That is not really the only difference, as digital music players have headphone jacks, they sound better, last longer battery life wise.. etc..

Im not going to say they sound better.  I have a Sansa its cute and small.  Also my phone has a headphone jack.  They sound the same except depends what you listen to them on.  A cheap headphone or a good one and the sound is pretty much same across all boards and what not.  However those new phones without headphone jack you can bluetooth it or get a Sansa the new ones rock.  It has a belt click to you can clip it to your pants and it wont fall off.  Much more convenient then carry around phone and what not.
