My mouse will randomly freeze for about 3 seconds at a time. It's a Razer Naga and it was pretty expensive so I don't want to just replace it. How do I determine if my mouse is broken or if it's my system? My motherboard has had problems in the past with USB ports dying and it fails even the slightest overclock so who freaking knows about that thing.

- Could be a problematic usb port, try another one (a 3.0 if possible, since I've noticed that sometimes usb devices stutter when plugged into a 2.0 port and your cpu is under heavy load)

- Could also be the mouse, try another one if you have any laying around.

- Check your task manager for any resource hogging processes.

- Could also be some driver issue but It's not very likely for a cursor problem imo.

- Are you aware of the polling rate your mouse is set to? If it's 1000 it could be causing some weird issues, try lowering it if you're familiar with polling rates and have an adequate driver.

I have 4 things plugged into a single 3.0 port through a 4 port hub because the other hubs are dead. But I've had this same setup for at least 2 years and it's never given me problems. I do check task manager and my 6600k usually idles at around 30% which is why I desperately need to upgrade.

Well although I have been running similar multi-hub setups and haven't really had any problems (for the same reasons really :D) it is probably because of that... try plugging the mouse only into the 3.0 port without any other devices/hubs and see if it's ok. I've had hubs work literally perfectly with all ports under load even with external hdds and whatnot and then just suddenly it would start under-performing at some point after a while.

In regards to your initial question though, your best bet is to try this mouse without the hub or on another computer if possible to diagnose the mouse itself and also try another mouse with your pc.

Ok. I'll try that and if it doesn't work I'll get back to you. Thanks
