Hey guys!

So I have a 13' MB Pro that my girlfriend and I want to sell and try and build her a gaming machine. I can probably get around $1100 for the laptop so I have about that much to play with.

My question is, do I buy her a new build for $650 or upgrade mine and just buy her a new card for my pre-existing 4790K build. Here's what I want for myself. It's either going to be $650 for her build, or $950 for a card & my upgrades.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($363.99 @ B&H)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler  ($38.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte H370 AORUS Gaming 3 WIFI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($134.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($67.98 @ Amazon)
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case  ($89.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $790.83
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

CPU - I wanna stream and I'm an Intel fanboy.

Cooler - Thought about a Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM but i figured a 212 will do find for now

Mobo - Needs wifi. If there are any better boards for not $300 that have wifi, please let me know

Ram - Basic ram, nothin' fancy.

Case - Wanted the NXZT 500i but i heard temps suck and I like fractal. (Going for a white theme here.)

PSU - One of the best PSU's under $100.

If i was going to just buy her a card, it would probably be a MSI Radeon RX 580 8 GB ARMOR OC.

If i was going to buy her a build for herself and say screw my upgrades it would be this.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($117.58 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($139.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($67.98 @ Amazon)

Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($69.98 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair CXM (2015) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply  ($58.89 @ OutletPC)
Total: $614.31

Both builds are good. The 9700k is pretty much same speed as a 9900k so I don't know what games she likes to play but its a beast of a CPU.  The Ryzen is a downfall compared to it.

9700K would be for me haha. She'd be getting the 4790K (that i use now) with a new 580. or the ryzen build.

I died a little seeing a 9700k with a H370 motherboard and a 212. Otherwise these are fine builds.

You know any other wifi boards that arent $250+ and white?

212 is temporary.

The Asus Prime-A is under 180$ and white/black.

Yes the 9700k gives almost identical frame rates as the 9900k.  Good choice with the 9700k my friend.  Also don't get me wrong this is no slouch, it will render and do all sorts of things on the desktop and what not.

Same brand and color but with Wi-FI and allows max OCl.

Downgraded the PSU for a 550w which is enough for less :)
