My query is on the Corsair One in particular, but this applies to any custom PC with a unique cooling design which is labelled as patented.

The Corsair One has a very effective fanless radiator, single fan, negative pressure closed loop liquid cooling system. In the official video, it is called a Patented Cooling System. Does this mean that no other pc manufacturer can create a similar custom PC or no case manufacturer can come up with a case having those features ? Does it also mean these companies are liable to lawsuits over something that should rightfully be open source ? And if an individual does a case mod or a custom case having the same design , he is also liable to prosecution?

It probably means they have some patents on some parts of the whole assembly and you would have to license patents from Corsair (if they allow it) to do a whole assembly the same way.

It's like the company which patented water coolers that have that spinning thing (the pump or whatever) inside the block you put on a cpu, and that thing pushes water through the tubes and radiator... you could do a water cooler by placing the pump by the radiator or somewhere else. Just the "spinning thing on water block" was patented.

Here's their patents : https://patents.justia.com/assignee/corsair-memory-inc

You can dig into them... the patent numbers would probably be printed somewhere in manuals, or encraved/silkscreen on the cooling solution (inside the machine)
