I got a hold of a Dell T710 server.  2 Xeon 5650 and 96 gigs of ram.  Was going to game and stream on it with a graphics card upgrade. But can’t.  The PCI e slot maxes at 25 watts.  So I would like to get a board to put these cores in and ram.  With a PCI e that is at 75 watts. For a GTX 1070 I have.  I have an I5 6500 that can not handle both at the same time. I know I know the 5650 is what ever you want to say bad about them. But it’s all I got so I need help please.  It would be nice to overclock these cores to 4hz if you know of any dual socket boards that can over clock.  I have a 750 watt power supply also to give u more info.

I doubt those xeon's will be any better... Yes they have a lot more "power", but for gaming they will not be great at all. 3 GHz on 1366 socket chips is going to have a drastic performance hit, not to mention suck down LOTS of power. Like, seriously, lots.

Another issue, you won't be able to overclock them, and you won't be able to find many motherboard options I wouldn't think. There is a lot of used server gear out there you can try and work with, but its going to be difficult I would think. And even if you do find a board, like I said, its going to be hard to get good gaming performance from those chips. I would possibly think about using one of the server CPU's and a normal consumer 1366 mobo from ebay, and using that as a dedicated stream PC.

Thats an old 1366 platform. Given the low clockrate of the xeons, they will perform very poorly in most games.

Again all I have to work with.  Just looking for help

Just because you have it, doesn’t mean it’s useful....

Like I said, I would seriously look into using it, or parts of it, as a dedicated stream PC. Let your i5 do the job it’s beat at, which is to run your games, and let the Xeon do the streaming....

Also, to get those numbers, they have the xeon overclocked to 4.5. I am not sure what motherboard they are using for that, or how they are even doing it. Or, for that matter, how they got it so high... 4.5 is a hell of a lot of speed out of a 1366 chip. My i7 920 was a ballin 920 and I had it running 3.82.

Anyways. My previous advice is still your best bet.

Yea. I don’t know what you will need, but yes you will need some hardware.

It would be better then trying to game in the xeon tho.... seriously tho.

Without an overclock, the xeon will be utterly unplayable. And if you want to overclock it (I googled it a bit, there is some solid info on anadtech and overclockers.net) but you will need a single socket consumer type motherboard. And a single 5650, even if you can get 4-4.2 ghz will be not great at gaming, but once you also try and stream on it AND game, it’s really going to fall on its face.
