This program is cool but how to use it, no one knows. The school put it on the computer lab computers and they think its pretty intuitive but I actually prefer Minecraft. Do you guys use it and what is your opinions about it?

Watch a video tutorial. I think it's pretty nice though

You're comparing a 3d modelling program to Minecraft?

I just started using it a few weeks ago, to make models for 3d printing. Took a few hours to make basic stuff. But it's extremely simple compared with programs like Maya and 3DS max.

I've used it. Not that hard, and comparing minecraft to a 3d program is the worse I've ever heard.

I wouldn't compare it to Minecraft but Google Sketchup is somewhat easy yeah.

Didn't Google abandon Sketchup a few years ago?

Think so.

what is Trimble?

Basically a navigation systems company and since Sketchup was mainly acquired by Google for Google Earth to make 3D models of buildings, Trimble acquired it to do it for their navigation systems as far as I know. More about them here

I rather like it. I was making a house in it (furniture and everything was to scale) but I accidentally deleted it, and I didn't have it save backups (took forever since it was getting close to 300MB).

I actually use it professionally, it's very simple compared to other 3d modelling programs. Just search for some tutorials on youtube and you'll be off and running.

I personally am not a fan of Google Sketchup. I find it hard and non-intuitive to use. Then again, I have signifcant professional experience with proper CAD applications such as Inventor and Solidworks.

I like sketchup it allows me to make quick plans that are accurate for wood/metal working projects

Its a good program as long as you don't want to do a lot of curves as sketchup works far better with sharp corners if you want to make something with a lot of curved and rounded parts use a real 3d modeling program

Also its not a game but you can use it to make some simple maps for source engine or hl engine as i recall.

Sketchup may be easy for use, but IMO it's absolutely crap if you want to do anything on at least good industry level, whatever the industry is.

You have whole range of products from autodesk that are used worldwide on professional level, and you can get them for free from autodesk's student community.

As some1 said, there's a 100% free alternative in form of blender, and any of these will benefit you much more if you're interested in 3D graphics in any way.

First: why is this in PC gaming??

Sketchup is really easy if you have used any other 3D modelling software before. Like I've used ArcGlobe (now ArcGIS), Surpac, GEMS and Blender. Compared to those its really easy. But has its drawbacks also. I couldn't do something that I could in Blender. For using it things like dream modding its just enough.
