Hi,

I am thinking of buying the oneplus7 (not the pro or the T variant). But I can't decide between the 6gb/128 gb or the 8 gb/256 gb model. The 8 gb model seems more ''future'' proof. But I have enough storage with the 128 gb one. So which one should I pick?

I got a 4GB phone and haven't noticed so much as a stutter. There's a point of diminishing returns when it comes to RAM, especially in a phone, so as @dizmo said you likely won't notice the difference between 6GB and 8GB. if all you need is 128GB of storage, then save some money and just get that.

Kind of sounds like a personal problem that ultimately only you can decide.

If you're fine with the 128gb storage, get that.

There's no such thing as a futureproof phone. 8Gb of RAM is just a rather pointless spec, I highly doubt you'd notice the difference between 6gb and 8gb.

Yeah I'm pretty sure my phone has 4GB ATM as well. There are definitely other things I'd like to have over more RAM...I think 6GB of properly managed RAM is enough for people to have a bunch of apps open at once without having to reload them. Really, high RAM numbers are just something to both entice people to buy, and a reason to inflate the price.

Yeah my current phone (nokia 8 ) also has 4 gb of RAM. Usually I have 1,2 gigs free. But ram is not the main purpose of why I want to buy an new phone. Don't get me wrong, the Nokia 8 has great hardware, just buggy software. And it's 2 years old now so no more updates. also the screen is not so great. All I wanted to know if the 8 GB variant was more bang for the buck. But now I am going to get the 6 GB version. :)
