CPU's Impact on FPS

What kind of impact does a CPU have on the FPS at which I can run a game? I know the CPU and GPU work together to do this, but do certain CPUs cap out at a point? 

Specifically, I am considering purchasing the Ryzen 5 3600. Should I expect the "229 eFPS" rating for CSGO on UserBenchmark to be the maximum it will run, or would a high-end GPU allow it to run faster?

Everything has to be processed then distributed by CPU, (drivers for example) faster your CPU can process those, it will be faster for your GPU to process and display frames. You should check which component is maxing out before going out and upgrading.

The ryzen 5 3600 came out to address needs for high refresh rate gaming on a budget. Second gen ryzen was competent at high refresh rates, but third gen is exceptional.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad
