Hi everyone :)

I have an old AIO CPU cooler: Thermaltake Water3.0 Performer C around.

It is specified for Intel LGA2011/1366/1155/1156/1150 as well as AMD sockets.

I would like to use it for an even older machine sporting a quad core LGA775 CPU (Core2quad Q9550).

I can find online many modern AIO that support LGA775 in addition to all the modern Intel LGAs mentioned above.

My best guess is that Thermaltake didn't list ALL the sockets that were compatible with their AIO (only the current ones at the time).

Thus it seems to me like I'm not completely out of my mind with the idea of hooking up the Thermaltake AIO on the old CPU...

It could be that there is a physical incompatibility, maybe? Holes not at the right place on the motherboard or something...

But if it fits, it should be OK, right? Or is this really not recommended?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best,

LGA 775 mounting is smaller than 115X so compatibility, if not explicitly stated, is likely not possible.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Thanks guys  :) it makes a lot more sense now.

It is nowhere mentioned that this AIO is compatible with LGA775 but the provided manual* shows a mounting plate with 3 different hole sets:

 - 1 labelled as 115X, indicated as compatible with 115X CPUs

 - 1 labelled as 1366, indicated as compatible with 1366 CPUs

 - 1 labelled as 775 without any further indication

I double check on my AIO and these holes are indeed present on the mounting plate.

I'll give it a try and report here whether I'm successful or not.

EDIT: Never-mind, it won't work. The mounting plate on the back of the MB is compatible with LGA775 but the mounting frame on the other side (attached to the AIO pump) isn't. I just ordered a new AIO that is LGA775-compatible...

* the manual I could find online is different and doesn't show these "775" holes on the mounting plate. The mounting plate is different...
