Hey everybody,

I have this weird problem:

I just got a new laptop, and after installing/udating the realtek audio driver, the Playback Devices dialog opens every time that I restart or turn on the laptop (thankfully it doesn't do it when it wakes up from sleep).

Anyone have any ideas how to stop this?

I tried un-installing tand then re-installing the audio driver, but it doesn't help.

Any help would be GREAT!

Thanks,

4Strings

The laptop runs Win8.1, so I went to the startup tab in Task manager, but Playback Devices isn't on the list:

OK, so I don't know what I did, but it stopped... I've tried restating three times now and thankfully playback devices didn't open again.

EDIT:
OK, so now I''ve actually figured out the cause:

My laptop (Gigabyte P35k by-the-way) has both HDMI and VGA outputs on it, and I plugged in my old 1080p monitor (that only has DVI and VGA on it) to the laptop's HDMI port using an HDMI-to-DVI adapter that I got with my desktop's 7950... And so whenever I plug the monitor to the HDMI the Playback Devices window pops open! So I unplugged the monitor and viola! No more playback devices on startup! The only bummer is that now I have to pllug my secondary monitor through VGA *shudder*... Oh, well, it's just 108p, and I only use it to have emails or a spreadsheet open while I work etc...
