Should I build a new system or upgrade my GPU

Hi everyone!

I want to set out on my first pc build and am currently in the part picking phase.

So far my planned specs are as follows:

Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC

CPU: Intel Core i5-9400f

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

GPU: Palit  GTX 1650 Dual Slot

Ram: 16 GB DDR4 3000mHz Corsair Veneance

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova G2 550W

Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 2,5¨ (500 GB)

My main goal with this PC is to be able to run Minecraft on a 144Hz screen along with hosting my own Minecraft server for friends and such. however, I feel like the parts might be a bit too overkill for this and would therefore ask if anyone has any good ideas to lower the price of the build.

My Current pc is old on a 2nd gen Intel Core i5-2400 and a Nvidia GTS 450 and 16 GB of DDR3 ram at 1333mHz. would it maybe better to upgrade my GPU to something like a 1050 ti?

Thanks for any help - it really means a lot to me.

Edit: typing mistake

TLDR It's pretty overkill. I'd probably lower the specs and just get a Raspberry Pi for hosting a server.

You can't use intel motherboard on amd.

You can however find the equivalent.

Are you from the US (what country if not)?

What is your budget (in native currency if not from US)?

Do you need the 144hz monitor included in your budget?

The i5 is phased out at this point. The R5 3600 has effectively made the only buyable Intel chips the 9700K and 9900K.

On any budget from $500-1500 the 3600 is kinda the king.

  • Okay
  • 3600 pulls much better numbers for not a whole lot more $$
  • Agree on stock cooler
  • RX 570, 580, 590, GTX 1660, 1660Ti are all fine budget options based on your selected budget.
  • 2x8GB 3200mhz any brand... No reason to be picky. (Though Corsair tends to be reasonably priced. G. Skill is pretty competitive in that price range.)
  • System Power 9, Pure Power 10, CX = budget. But if you're shelling out for a G2, just get BitFenix Gold (non modular) / Whisper (full modular) instead. Similar or less cost, higher quality.
  • Why would you need a pricey Samsung SSD on a budget Minecraft build? Crucial, Silicone Power, Sabrent, etc. All solid options with solid performance and much lower cost.

@trevb0t Hi, I come from Denmark, the local currency is Danish Crowns (DKK) and by budget is roughly 5300 DKK. Regarding the SSD I was just told that it would have quicker boot time, but I see you point. Also, the screen is outside of the budget.
