cities skylines not using 100% gpu

my game is running at about 50fps on medium. I have a 1060 laptop gpu. game is only utilizing 40% of my gpu and for some reason. How do i fix this?

You are just CPU bottlenecked most likely

Just look at the processors in task manager or something while the game is running windowed.

 

Game might only use 1-2 threads for real work.

Or it could just be engine limited anyways.

Do other games work fine?

other games work fine.

my friend with a 1060 as well runs at like 120fps so no engine limitation

8750h laptop cpu. so its a single threaded game? i doubt that.

He has the same CPU/GPU but is getting more fps at the exact same settings?

If that's the case did you already try a fresh install of windows? and/or updating the bios?

Is your laptop in maximum power mode and plugged in while gaming?

Also is that 50fps at all times? Or only during the late game when a lot more processing is happening?

my friend is on high and getting 100+

plugged in, max power mode.

50fps pretty much all the time. im guessing 1% low of about 30 just by experiencing the game.

when I pause time, I get about 60fps

cpu bottlenecked by throttling. Your on a laptop send temps and if they aren't 95-100c ill be surprised

Does he have same laptop? He might have better thermals if its different laptop.

 

What about ram etc. whats your ram speed there's not some ddr3 ram in there is there.

 

Open up intel XTU check out power limit throttling and thermal throttling.
