Black Screen

My friend recently built a pc and was having problems with windows. He has a ryzen 5 2600 and a b450 mobo w/o onboard graphics. I told him to reinstall graphics drivers and some how he uninstalled device in device manager. Now all he gets is a black screen. The graphics card is my old Asus 1060 6gb dual fan, which i have never had an issue out of. Is there a simple fix to this, to allow him to display his screen? He isn't computer savy whatsoever. I was thinking maybe remove graphics card and try a different pci-e slot??

did he seed the graphics card properly?did he plug in the 6 pin for the 1060? did he connect the monitor to the graphics card? are any cable loose? if it's a modular psu check the psu side cables too..was he doing any overclock before this happen?

Yes it is seated in properly, i put everything together for him, was working fine until he started blue screening a few days ago. So he reinstalled windows and then tried to reinstall drivers and that is when he uninstalled device, that being his 1060. No to overclocking, no to cables being loose, and yes monitor is connected to graphics card.

have you tried resetting the cmos?

I have not, i wont be able to get hands on the computer until Friday when he comes home. He refuses to touch anything on it.

ahh..i see..you can try telling him to reset the cmos...what was he doing when the blue screen occurs?maybe the heatsink isn't contacting properly and overheat?idk just guessing...xD

I've never reset cmos. Is it as easy as pulling the battery out waiting a bit then putting it back in?

yes..some boards even have a cmos button...some has jumper pins on the board..

nah..i have nothing to do anyway..=p..even if it works there's still a problem...i never uninstalled anything from device manager before do he need to reinstall windows to fix that?maybe he can try booting with the windows usb drive plugged in and repair or reinstall windows?? and what cause the blue screen in the first place?

I have absolutely no idea. He installed windows from a usb drive of his brothers. But he didn’t start blue screening until a few days ago. Windows was laggy on him after he reinstalled and that’s when I suggest reinstalling drivers. That’s what started the whole thing is when he reinstalled windows became super laggy. Then of course now it’s the black screen and won’t display after uninstalling device that being the 1060

maybe the cooler isn't installed properly? cpu overheating can cause lags and blue screens too...ram can do that too..hhmm...try reseeding everything then..haha
