1. Budget & Location - $3,000 US, California, USA. (there is some flexibility to this number)

2. I am looking for a serious gaming platform that can handle nearly anything I can throw at it for the near future.

3. I currently have an Alienware 1900R 34.1", Curved Gaming Monitor LED-Lit, WQHD 3440 x 1440p Resolution, 4ms 120Hz Overclocked Refresh Rate, NVIDIA G-Sync, 21:9, AW3418DW. I love this monitor and do not plan on upgrading it any point soon.

4. I'll be purchasing peripherals at the completion of the build.

5. I have been planning to build my own desktop for a number of years and I'll finally have the disposable income to do it, and do it well that is, in the spring.

Here is my planned components from PC Part Picker. Let me know what your thoughts are. Do you have any suggestions on what I can change out without losing the intent of the build while saving cost? Thanks for your thoughts!

If your only high-utilization workload is gaming: (no video editing etc.)

You could cut the cost a lot with minimal difference: eg.,

Probably around 5% difference in performance/ 30% difference in cost.

No point in making builds right now if you're not building until the spring.
Come back to the build section when you're a couple weeks out. Too many things change in that amount of time.

That said, if you're only gaming you don't need the 3900x, and frankly the 3600 would give you near-same results.

If you're buying RAM, buy matched kits; a 64GB kit, in this case. Though, if you're only gaming, that's absolutely useless.

Higher numbers does not always mean better performance.
