I have an 8pin + 4pin power connector for the cpu, would it be bad if I only run the 8pin?

All I ever do at this point is play Destiny 2.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's kinda sad... 

 

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600x

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2

MB: Asus PRIME x370 Pro

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8gb) 3200 MHz

Storage: Toshiba P300 1TB, Samsung 970 EVO 250gb

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 ti GAMING

PSU: Corsair RMx 750w

Case: Corsair Crystal 460x

What motherboard and cpu? The extra 4pin is usually not needed and only useful for extreme oc'ing.
