Best you can do is try putting the stick in different available slots. If the system still crashes, you're SOL.

Yeah, unless you know anyone who knows how to repair a cpu socket, you're kind of out of luck. If you still have a warranty on the board, then call up the manufacturer and see if they'll send you a new one. If not, then I would personally sell the board on eBay for parts and buy a new board.

I called them and talked to them, but they said that I would have to pay $100 for them to fix it. Can you tell me if I could get a upgrade in my desktop if I sell the old parts and get something new, for total under 100 + the amount of price I get by selling it.
