The problem is that i opened my notebook to clean it and it had the factory stuff they call termal paste which was baked hard. So i started to get it off with a small thin screwdriver ,around the gpu chip end then a patch on top of the chip and i slipped and scratched it on the edge. It a very small scratche ,you have to look close to see it ,but still its a gpu and i'm worried if there will be and consequences. I then procede clean it and the cpu ,heatsink and cleand with alcohol and applied new termal paste. Then i closed it up to see if it will run. It ran the temperature was much better and i even ran a few games to check if the gpu works ,didnt see any problems but still. Is this fatal ,should i expect it to die at any time or should i just relax. Any feedback from people familiar with this kind of thing would be helpful.

No. if you did not shock the GPU, you're fine. i probably bent my motherboard and even broke a piece off of it but it works either way.

you probably applied too much thermal pase, most notebooks use thermal pads and/or a tiny ammount of thermal paste, if you gopped it on there it might be insulating it.

if the temps are really high take it apart again, check how it spred, double check the fitting s and make sure everythings done how its meant to be.....just picture yourself as an underpaid chinese worker who doesnt get paid today if they dont get it perfect.....works for me.

I'm confused by this post, in the post he mentions his improved temps, and that he was worried about the scratch on his Gpu, themal paste advice is somewhat off topic in terms of the thread being about a GPU scratch

Thank you all for the quick response ,i'm relieved that its not a problem and to answer D3MON ,i put very little as it should be and the temps dropped from 90(temps in celsius)for the cpu and 80-85 for the gpu to 75 tops for the cpu and 65-70 tops for the gpu. I checked them under gaming load with aida64 ,gpu-z and cpu-z.

And for a not gaming notebook i think are not bad. Idles at 40-50c but still its out of warranty so i'm mentaly prepared for its death at any time becouse you never know.
