I'm in need of some help with a problem i've been having with my GPU.

Every time i run both my GPU and CPU at 100% usage at the same time my GPU Usage Spikes up and down between 0 and 100% every 1/2 second.  My CPU usage is fine.

I first noticed it while playing a game as i monitored cpu and gpu usage. cpu was at 50% usage but GPu was spiking between 0 and 100%. And my game was crashing every 10-15mins

But i can run the GPU at 100% with to spike but only if my CPU isn't under any load.

All temps are stable and are not a problem

I've never had this problem before and am stuck on what to do.

First of all, nothing is over-clocked, My cpu is at base speed with turbo disabled. Memory is 1866 rated but running at 1333. My Gpu is factory over-clocked but i don't think that,s the problem.

All drivers and Bios are up to date, Pc is virus free and really doesn't have much beyond stream installed.

At first i though it was something wrong with GPU as its a brand new R9 290x oc Windforce from Gigabyte. But i swapped it out for my 260x and the the same thing happened, though in larger intervals (every 15-30 seconds) which was curious.

Not sure what to try next ?

My config

AMD 8350

SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0

2x8GB corsiar vengence pro 1866

R9-290x OC Gigabyte Windforce

250GB intel 520 SSd

4x 1TB WD blues

Corsair HX 850w

 Window 8.1 =-(

Im not sure if the AMD 8350's have integrated graphics or not, im too lazy to do the research... However! if they do try taking out your GPU and running off the integrated graphics just to see if it crashes

EDIT :: Sorry thought you said BF4 was givng you issues lol. But still try the first option if possible.

Yes all driver are up to date, using 13.12. I've tried a refresh install and rolled back to the two previous ones. As well as chipset/bios updates. This happens during gaming i was just recreating the situation to show you

No 8350 don't have integrated graphics. And i've retried on 2 different R7 260x's/ same thing though longer intervals

I've just tried swapping out the cpu to a spare i have, and still no change. Also tried a fresh windows install and nothing.

I been looking around the interwebbymabob and it seems like there are others with the same problem.

So maybe a AMD driver issue ? though im not sure why i it randomly started.

I'll wait for a driver update and see if that fixes it.

Anyone got any other suggestions in the mean time ?

Try running a Kombustor on your GPU and see if it crashes then too, also check the tempts.

If that's the case and you already installed/rolled back drivers then your card may be a problem.
