Connections

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

It's either-or when you go with RGB. Either you connect directly to mobo and use Aura, or you connect to CoolerMasters hub and use their software.

Will the fan on the

Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

connect to the rgb controller for my

Cooler Master MasterFan Pro 120 Air Balance RGB (3 pack) w/RGB Controller 42.7 CFM 120 mm Fans

im very new to rgb and im trying to figure out how to set up the leds, im fairly sure that these products are both aura sync compatible and that i need to plug them into the 5v white 4pin on my

Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

would this work?

And if not, since this system is built around aura sync i want to get my case fans hooked up to the rgb system, im not sure if aura sync only works using the 5v 4pin port (cant remember name) so if there is any other ways (preferably without a hub to save some money) to connect them then please direct me to them, also if a hub is inescapable then please direct me towards a decently cheap one that will link up to my other aura sync products

Is there a hub that would let me connect 3 rgb fans and a water cooler to it and then plug the hub into the aura sync port.

Mobo has two ports. There are 3-way splitters. You might even get them with fans.

i just realised that having 4 5v fans running on 1 12v might not be a problem but please advise me on how i should approach the splitter stuff

sorry for asking but do the splitters need to be powered

No. Single header can easily power 3 LEDs.

I'd need to verify that. Usually you can't mix 12V and 5V.

Yeah, that is issue, but different than you think. You can't mix 12V and 5V RGB, they will blow up. Amperage will determine how many lights you can have per header. Same as with fans.

CM site doesn't work very well on mobile, but looks like those aren't Aura or any other compatible. They will work on generic headers still.

https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/case-fan/masterfan-mf120r-argb/

found some cheaper ones that are compatible

also i am having trouble finding information on this, do rgb fans have seperate connections for rgb and fan or is it all ran through the rgb header

and finally with this cooler https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/cpu-liquid-coolers/masterliquid-ml120l-rgb/

will it use 5v or 12v and if it uses 5v will i need to get a 4 way splitter

Fans still aren't compatible. They are ARGB. AIO however is compatible, with the original mobo you had at least. 12V RGB with 3-way splitter included. Oh, and 12V RGB header seems to have 3A rating.

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-X570-P/ this is the new mobo, if i understand correctly then 3 pin 5v is argb so this should support the fans and also can my argb cpu cooler plug into the 3 ping 5v header

(dont worry about the chipset stuff i have it all figured out)

actually im not sure if the cooler is argb dont quote me on that lol

Ok, yeah, that has both ARGB and normal RGB. So fans to ARGB and AIO to normal.

With mobos, you need to check on manual to see what they actually support. Learned that hard way myself. Same with fans, usually. Though CM is worst of the bunch with those.
