Hi Everyone.

I would like to some suggestion for a good Wifi Extender/Repeater that has a range of around 50-100meters.

I'm planning to buy a wifi repeater to connect from my friends Internet modem to our house but with capability of broadcasting a different SSID & password.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks

Okay so couple of things

1.Please be careful. I don't know who you're getting this wifi off of but be careful they don't have data caps with having both of you on it. It'll double if not more their data usage and their isp could throttle them. Don't know who you go through and what their contract says so just read the fine print

2.Here is this one by netgear

Is it good? I can't personally say. I don't have a place big enough to need one. Reviews say meh? It's 20 bucks so you get what you pay for. Speeds of course are gonna be degraded since distance to your friends wifi router.

I fix computers for a government that is garbage. I'm also a certified security professional according to Comptia

Using my paycheck on computer parts and alcohol and since this is a tech form I'll help with computer stuff I guess

sounds like an overly confusing solution for a need to connecto to a friends pc.. just setup a network share if this is what you are trying to do

Some EU input to Canadian IT :D

The scenario is our house is in separate street block and they are having fiber connection while us is only DSL line. So we agreed to cut the payment and do this solution.

For your suggestion do you have any alternative than this like an outdoor device to properly receive the data from the modem 100m+ away?

Thanks.

Oh 100m away? Good luck man. Anything "outside" is going to be prone to theft or damage by weather, animals, whatever. I don't know what's between you guys and anything I recommend isn't a great solution. You might just have to wait for your fiber connection to come in? Have you asked your isp when you will be getting yours?

Ubiquity has some that do site to site wireless, but keep in mind speeds might not be great. Also this would violate the ISP’s TOS.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

basically you´re screwed... either you get some ip 68 extenders or hope people will let you setup an extender over at theyre house but i guess you would need like 2-3 extenders to make it work even half decently but on my opinion it is not worth the effort....
