Hey all, I'm new to the forum so let me know if I'm posting in the wrong area. Before I start, here are my specs:

Ryzen 5 3600x

Asus x470-I ROG STRIX (bios ver. 2801)

G.skill trident Z 16gb 3200mhz

EVGA 2080 XC Gaming

Seasonic focus gold 650w SFX-L

I am having a problem getting the computer to post after swapping my out my 1700x for this 3600x. I put in the 3600x and just get the red LED signifying CPU at the top right of the board. Fans spin an motherboard lights up. Here are the things I've tried.

• reseating ram

• testing each ram stick in each slot to determine if ram or slots are faulty

• loosened AIO

• tightened AIO

• reseat CPU

• swapped AIO with air cooler

• clear CMOS

• swapped 2080 for old HD 7800 series card

Finally I swapped the 1700x back into the board with the 7800 series card and it booted right up. It states I'm on BIOS version 2801 (which I believe is the latest). The only thing I can determine might be broken is my 2080 because it kept telling me that the PCI E power cable wasn't plugged in when it clearly was. But I don't think my graphics card acting weird would stop my system from posting... Would it?

Anyways, I'm going to bed so let me know if you need more info and thank you guys for help.

If it was showing the GPU power message while doing this then the CPU is fine.

Make sure the PCIe power cable on the PSU side is tight.

Also did you try the 3600x with the 7800?

I should have mentioned this. I did make sure that it was plugged in securely. I also tested each end of the cable with the 7800 and it works fine. So I think something is wrong with my card.

I haven't yet lol, I should probably do that huh?

Would rule out the CPU

If neither chip works with the 2080 then that's the common issue.

Also make sure you are using two separate PCIE cables for the GPU not the double Daisy chain off the single

Just tested the 3600x with the 7800 and nada, still a red LED.

As for the pcie cables, I unfortunately don't have another seasonic pcie cable to test with. Think Amazon sells them?

Try a different bios version? Maybe earliest bios that supports 3000?

I'll give that a shot, also if I were to try and snag a pcie cable. I need to get one from the same manufacturer as my power supply right? Does it matter by model?

I know using the wrong ones can be very bad, but I don't know where to get replacements.
