Hi Techtips,

Please see my PC build as attached.

I am looking tp upgrade my system and need advice on a better cooling fan for the CPU and also if my current spec will allow for a DDR4 upgrade.

Currently have two DDR4 4gb 2666mhz Ballistix on the motherboard.

I am using PC for gaming and also will be using it to run CUBASE 10 pro.

Any advice will be appreciated

thanks,

.

If you want an upgrade i will recommend upgrading the GPU first before other upgrades,

If you don't want to upgrade the GPU then:

I will recommend upgrading the cooler to the Noctua NH-D15,The best air cooler on the market, even better than most All-In-One liquid coolers,

You can overclock to 5GHz no problem with this cooler.

As for the RAM i would recommend going with 2x8GB minimum 3000MHz DDR4

If that's a single stick of 8gb ddr4, you can just add another stick for 16gb.

What are your current temps and what you aiming for with a new cooler?

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Thanks Vishera,

What GPU would you suggest for the current motherboard I am using - the motherboard is actually an ASUS ROG STRIX H370-F gaming board...

4 X DIMM with 2666MHZ as top speed.. It also supports AMD crossfire.

As mentioned currently using i5 9600k processor.

It is a great set up but sometimes runs pretty loud when playing latest games at 1080p 144MHZ. Runs most titles at either high settings and older titles at max settings ( GTA V )

Mentions AMD crossfire tech.. IS there a decent option or should I just get another RX580? Also really want to up the DDR4 RAM but motherboard spec says speeds up to 2666 MHZ only?!? Would love to go to 16 GB DDR4..

advice and tips really appreciated.

The GPU depends on your budget,I recommend the 5700 XT if you have the budget for it.

Also i would recommend a Graphics Card with 3 fans for better cooling and noise.

As for CrossFire,It's buggy and doesn't work most of the time, just avoid CrossFire.

In the case of your RAM you can add a matching set of Crucial Ballistix 2666MHz 2x4GB like you have now for 16GB of RAM.

It's important that the new sticks will be exactly the same model as the old sticks.

You can try to overclock your RAM if you want higher RAM speeds, just follow RAM overclocking guides on Coffee Lake,
