Well met!!

I have made an account to seek guidance from the masterminds on LTT forums - I hope to gain wisdom and new light from those smarter than I.

I have been having issues with my CPU running hot to the point of blue screen PC crashing while gaming. I have tried almost everything to fix this issue. Even Intel, Nvidia, or Asus can’t figure out what to do!!

I will list what I have attempted below

- Reapplied thermal past

- Check The integrity of CPU cooler (H60)

- Added an extra fan at the top of the case

- updated Bios (Version 1301)

- Dusted PC

-  Verified my GPU is running the games and not integrated graphics

-Have all my fans running at max speed

I recently upgraded to an i7-7700K (prior was an i5-7600) I understand the i7-7700k runs hotter however I can’t play games such as Battlefront 2, Hunt Showdown, Black Ops 4, ect without temps getting extremely hot! I can hit 80c quickly and beyond. (I’ve seen hit 95c)

With that World of Warcraft and other oldish games run okay (still hot at 70c-75c)

Idle temps go from 40c-55c

My Specs

-MOBO: Asus Z270 Mark 2

-GTX 1080

-i7-7700K

-CPU cooler (Corsair Hydro H60)

After speaking multiple times with Asus and Nvidia they told me “We can’t figure out what the issue is, either your motherboard or CPU is broken.” With that Intel is very slow to responding back to me as of late due to speaking with them for a week on troubleshooting the issue. (Via Phone/email)

Currently I’m thinking the CPU might have the problem since my i5 never had overheating issues. Intel/Corsair reassured me my H60 AIO cooler is enough it fix the issue.

Any ideas on what I could do to possibly fix this?

Thank you!! Also I apologize if the formatting if poor on the post - making this from my phone.

Are you using default motherboard settings? By default, Multicore Enhancement is enabled which is basically an auto oc which can result in high temps. If you haven't already, disable that feature and see if that helps.

What do you mean by temps beyond 80c? Are you getting past 95c?

Moved to Troubleshooting.

Thanks for the advice WoodenMarker!

I did your suggestion, still having the same issue.

Yes I have seen the CPU get into the 90c+ temps.

Asus did call me back today to see how my issue is going they believe it to be a defective CPU chip.

What are your thoughts?
