I've had this issue for 3 days and even after spending hours with Microsoft support the problem still persists. I cannot connect to the internet on my PC after upgrading CPU motherboard and ram. Not via WiFi or Ethernet, I've tried 2 different WiFi adapters and I've tested my ethernet cable on another device. All works fine. I've found corrupted files, reinstalled windows and drivers countless times. Upgraded the bios tried every single basic troubleshooting step I could find and nothing. I even tried connecting to phone hotspot and that didn't work either. On my router my device shows up as UNKNOWN, both ethernet and WiFi. This is a fresh install of Windows so I don't have a VPN or anything so why would it do that. I'm hesitant to get a new motherboard because no networking works not just ethernet or WiFi so it seems more system related than that. I'm thinkig about taking it to my local pc repair shop because I don't know what to do.

Do you really think that Windows is kind of a random operating system? :) One installation is fine, second may be bad, third... who knows?

Problem is with your hardware - probably motherboard. Try to boot from Ubuntu USB and check just to be sure. If you don't want to replace your motherboard, you can buy cheap lan adapter on pci-e.

I tried reinstalling my old motherboard CPU and ram which worked fine before and now doesn't so I'm not sure it's that. Might try booting to Ubuntu as you suggested.

Furthermore my wireless card is a PCI-E card and that doesn't work so it makes me unsure if a LAN adapter would work either.
