A+ Tech force to retired.  Being treated for Cancer a third time.. So fix budget.

Till recently I was running a HP with a 3.0ghz G860 running on a Foxconn 2ABF motherboard with 4 g of ram.  Couldn't do much but Windows and Internet.  Would not run Fortnite but did run Rocket League and Cuphead. Can't really complain.  I got it for 9.99 without ram or hd.

Saved up and bought a CPU off eBay.  A I5 2400k and installed it and it didn't boot.  Removed the chip and it appeared to have pins bent on LGA 1155 socket.  I tried to fix them and I seem to damage more.  Is it possible to straighten the socket or is it worth the trouble ? .

My eyesight is not like it used to be.  So I would need to get a loupe or magnifiy glass and light.

Or should I just try to save up and in future get a motherboard off ebay that is a micro ATX  and try again?  Is a 2400K overclockable ? Don't really care to do it but is option.

A lot of times OEMs like HP, Dell etc put custom BIOS on there boards to lock them to only CPUs they want and block everything else. Its likely that they did that here.

It is a HP PRO.     All research I did listed  it could use I5 and I7  2300k,2400k,2500k,2600k, 2700k   So the chip should work, but question is how to fix the socket.  If I get a non oem board I think I would have more capabilities since HP fixes what it can and can't allow me to set in bios or what ever it is called today.
