Hi!

I've had a problem with my CPU for quite some time now but I finally decided to figure out what was wrong. When I first relaised something was wrong was when I logged in to BF4. I usually get somewhere between 190-240 fps ingame but this time I could barely hit 80 fps. When I opened taskmanager I saw that CPU usage was somewhere between 90-100%. I have an intel i5-8600k so It should not have to be uppgraded in my oppinion.

I'm asking you if you have anything I could do in order to solve this problem? I would be grateful for all the help I could get!

Nothing abnormal there.

In fact the ONLY thing drawing a lot of CPU power is COD.

You'll probably need to monitor it for a bit while you play, so you can see what's causing your spikes.

Is it normal to have 100% cpu usage? Because it usually goes pretty high up. Even for a game like batllefeild 4 which is pretty old, my pc still struggels to keep a smooth and enjoyable experience.

If this isn't the problem I do not know what is. I've really tried to find the problem and I've searched everywhere. But Thank you anyways!

Not all the time. But for periods at a time you could hit 100% usage.

In my case it happens in BF V. When loading it uses 100% on all 6 cores.

If you're still struggling with FPS, I'd try a few things.

1. DDU remove your graphics drivers and install the latest.

2. Run benchmarks for your hardware to make sure it's all working as intended.

This is normal for modern CPU demanding games. 6 threads are not enough to keep a high end card fed in them. Look into an i7 or i9 if it bothers you that much. My i7 8th g n is usually at 80-90% in BFV and Assassin's Creed

Thank ypou for your advice! I did the 2 steps you told me and it got me this result:

Which leads me to the conclusion that I still got the same problem..

What are your temperatures like when you're gaming?

The CPU isn't thermal throttling is it?

Just seems like cod problems. Need more cpu. Or limiting frames I guess.

Isn’t the only one for me either. But the only one that’s playable given the cpu usage.

I'm pretty confident that heat isn't the probllem because the problem is still there right when I launch the game. In that case it would have to overheat instantaneously... is that possible?

I don't know what causes FPS loss like that to be honest.

If you're sure it's the CPU try finding a place to borrow one and swap it in.
You've got to exclude the parts that could be the culprits to truly figure out what the problem is.

Has the PC recently been updated with new chipset drivers?

What version of Windows are you running? Have you updated?
