[SOLVED]Help, I can no longer close programs.

Hi @SomeRandomWeeb

If the advice given by TempestCatto does not give a solution you might want to try the following if you have not already.

1. Launch taskmanager as admin : type taskmgr.exe in start menu and right click it to start as admin, then try to kill the task

2. I assume that you already have tried a simple restart of your computer but in some cases this does not end a task because of the "feature" fastboot. Which basically causes programs to never really be closed even during restart. See following link for more information. You might want to consider to keep this disabled even after issue has been fixed as fastboot breaks alot while only booting seconds faster than normal.

I'm running windows 10, latest update as of 21/09/2019, and i'm trying to reboot OBS because I can't seem to get my capture card to work. It keeps coming up with the "OBS is already running" warning, and it's in task manager but I can't close it there. I've even tried taskkill in CMD but it apparently doesn't exist. Can someone help?image.png.f561c1964c67d21a60da55910b7740f6.png

Tried it, didn't work but there's now a new error. That normally means progress.

As suggested, try running in Admin mode, that should clear it up. But if not, try what @Jarno. suggested with disabling fast boot and restarting.
