Will this backplate work with my Hyper 212?

Thready

I'm upgrading to Ryzen and my Hyper 212 isn't compatible because of the backplate. Will this white part work as a backplate?

https://www.amazon.com/Mounting-Plate-AMD-Socket-AM4/dp/B06X9VF8TN/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=am4+metal+backplate&qid=1569023390&s=electronics&sr=1-1

I've been searching for a week because I hate to buy a whole new cooler just because the backplate isn't compatible.

Thanks

Hi!

Have you tried contacting Cooler Master and asking for a backplate?

Some brands like Noctua will give them for free, most of them will sell you the part and CM likely does have it.

Otherwise it's likely that the EK mounting plate will not work since EK mainly sells watercooling parts. That backplate is for a waterblock.

Here's the page for the Hyper 212X AM4 bracket:

https://landing.coolermaster.com/pages/amd-am4-ryzen-compatability/

It's the part number RR-AM4B-H212-S1

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Yeah I tried getting one and they're not giving them out anymore. I'm probably just going to get a different brand of cooler. I don't know what to buy though.

I'd honestly complain about that (politely). What do you mean they discontinued any adapter for a platform that is still relevant?

Though it might not be worth the time / money since the Hyper 212 is so cheap.

In your shoes I'd probably solemnly swear to never again buy a Cooler Master product lol.

Then grab a new budget cooler like this one

They gave out the am4 adapters and backplates back in 2017 and then when they ran out they just quit giving them away.

(I forgot I need a new front 4 screw bracket thing that screws into the backplate)

So I'm 2 years late. I'm thinking of getting a different cooler that's under $50 at Microcenter today. I don't know which one to get though. I don't do any overclocking to the point where I need anything more than $50 or probably even $40. I'm looking to overclock my RAM from 3000 to 3200 and my 3600 up to 3600X speeds.

Yeah I spoke with CoolerMaster about getting a backplate for my 212 Evo, they said at least a week ago that the wait time for them is at least 12 weeks, something which is stupid considering they are producing the heatsinks with the backplate already in the box, it's obvious they don't really care for the old consumers, probably want you to buy a new cooler from them.

Noctua or Bequiet! will be the cooler I buy to replace the stock 3700x cooler once I've got some cash and can be bother with dismantling my PC again.

If you'd like amazing customer service with decent prices, be quiet! has some good options. I'd grab this and have some headroom for overclocking in the future. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HPXZF2I/
