I have recently got a i5 4690k. I have an ASUS H81M-A M11AD motherboard which is OEM. My old I5 4440S works fine and I get post boot sounds and am able to boot into windows. But when using the new I5 i get a black screen and no post boot sounds. I have updated the bios to the most recent one from ASUS and reset the CMOS. Any suggestions?

Was this a pre-built machine? What kind of power supply do you have?

Intel Core i7 9700F / Cooler Master 212 Evo / GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER / 16 GB G.SKILL RAM @ 2666MHz / GA-B365M-DS3H / EVGA 500w PSU

HP Pavilion Gaming 15 / Ryzen 5 4600H / GeForce GTX 1050 / 8 GB @ 3200MHz

Currently only using a single stick of RAM anyway. So even though my old processor works fine with the RAM this still could be a problem?

Assuming the BIOS update did not fail, and everything else works; its got to be RAM or the CPU that is the issue.

Ok I will change my RAM out with my mates RAM. If this does not work should we assume the cpu is dead and I should return it?

You can also pull everything from the system, drives, GPU, PCIE cards and see if it will get to BIOS with the bare minimum. If there is still no POST the CPU is shot or the Motherboards CPU support is at fault.

I have checked the support list and my CPU is supported. Already pulled everything out and was using just the output from the motherboard and still no post.
