Can you guys at LTT document some of the settings and stuff in writing? There's a ton of information in the videos that gets lost in a split second once it cuts to another scene. A recent example is where Anthony mentioned a piece of software that links two or more NASes together into one file system (AWESOME), but only has it on the screen for literally 4-5 seconds. The community and the internet at large could really use that info as well as other stuff we see in LTT content.

It could even be a selling point of Floatplane I guess. "Support us on Floatplane and get access to our knowledge."

You can always ask for more details in video threads found in https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/17-ltt-official/ or by tagging LMG staff member to your post.

I think there has been discussion about LMG releasing transcripts of their videos for subtitling purposes. But there are some notable drawbacks, like copyright and the fact that raw script (if made well) includes stuff that would need to be edited out.

But you still might have to watch years worth of back catalog content to find that one program/technique that gets mentioned once in a video. What I'm asking about is more for a "hey, there was this thing that Linus mentioned a year ago that he uses in house" situation. Sure, the video content is there. But the nature of YouTube makes finding the knowledge extremely difficult.

That would be a good first step. But I still feel that we're losing a ton of the shop/verbal knowledge that LMG has. It's like learning to program online vs talking with other developers; you'll learn the basics online but you'll only learn the pitfalls and stuff from talking to people who have actually had to use that knowledge.

And LMG could totally charge money for this, as I said before. It could be a knowledge base. It could be a wiki. Heck, LMG could probably write some books on the techniques they use. I know myself and a ton of other people in the world would pay money to get better access to that shop knowledge.
