So I have set up the pi hole, but my ISP router does not allow me to set a newwork wide DNS.  (I have set a static IP and used the guide from the forum, the pi hole it self is accesible and works correct I suppose. )

When I want to set up my phone (S9) to use it, it says "no internet".

Through the advanced settings I have set the DNS as the Pi hole IP.

Did I do something wrong?

If you want whole network, use Pi Hole as DHCP server and turn off DHCP on your ISP router.

Can you access the Pi-hole UI via web browser?

What DNS settings do you have set in Pi Hole? It took me an hour to work out that Pi Hole won't work using my ISP DNS servers, as soon as I enabled Google's DNS server it started working.

Also on my tablet I have to disable then reenable WiFi for Pi Hole to work. When I change the DNS it says no internet, disable/reenable and it reconnects and works.

Yes I can acces the Pihole Ui through the browser.

The whole network would be a problem as the ISP provided router does not provide all options

Remember that if you do this and your Pi goes offline for any reason your entire network goes down with it.

That should be good. On your phone set the DNS server to the IP of your Pi then click done. Once it says Connected/No Internet disable WiFi entirely, leave it off a few seconds then reenable it and when it reconnects it should work.

This is not totally correct, you would still use your router as a default gateway and your clients would also see that as a default gateway. The issue would be if a device disconnects from the network it would not beable to get a valid IP unless you get the pi-hole running or you set it static. Even if the pi-hole goes down your network would still retain connectivity as long as you set the PI-hole to hand out a secondary DNS (your ISP DNS) to all your clients.

I have this deployed at the router level, using primary DNS as PI-hole and a secondary DNS incase the pi-hole goes down the network fails-over to the backup DNS.

So, tried that, no effect. The phone sees no internet and also chrome gives the error "dns probe finished no internet"

I tried setting Pi Hole up to use my ISP DNS and it totally failed and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. Could my ISP be blocking forwarding requests?

Its possible but very unlikely, most likely the issue lies in the setup configuration.

So, if I set both - nothning changes. No internet.

Router supports IPv6, should have been enabled during the set up.

Its a bit long haha, but here goes:

So looks like the Pi-hole cannot ping your router is your router IP 192.168.2.254? Double check this.

Also confirm your WAN interface on the Pi-hole is indeed named wlan0.

I would try also going back though the setup and setting your forwarding DNS servers manually instead of picking from the list. I would do 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.
