Headphone Jack

So I have a pair of hyperx headphones and I use a razer blade 15 laptop and it seems the only way I can use my headphone mic is if I go wireless on the headset. Is there a way that I could use the microphone when my headset is wired, with just the one cord that connects to the only port on the laptop or not because my friend was saying he was able to do that with his headset and I cant figure out how.

There are adapters that will combine the headphone and microphone cords down into a single 4-pin 1/8" plug. That is what you need.
