Hi I have smart by hub so ISP provided hub.

So every night I play games and my partner watches Netflix and Amazon video but each time she watches them my games lag like hell.

My internet is 80 down and 20up.

Is there a router I can use to control how much internet goes where and such?

Im willing to spend £100 to £200 on router

Are you gaming on Ethernet or WiFi? The reason I ask is 80 Mbps is more than enough to watch a 4K stream on Netflix and game.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Every time she doesn't watch TV or Firestick feels great and smooth but as soon as she watches stuff lag

Are you using the company modem and router. Make sure the modem is not one of those old style one's that run slow. Have you done a speed test. Who is your isp ?

Give a bit more detail to know what is actually going on. 80 should be more then enough for 2 people

Ok I'm from the UK and the company I use is BT and unlike USA we dont use modems, only routers which we get with our packages, but with these routers you cant priorities connections basically can't control my internet so was wondering if a 3rd party router like nighthawk I can change the priority of what connections I want to assign them. I get roughly between 65 to 80 download and always 20 upload. For example black ops 4 it shows ping and bandwidth every few seconds my ping will go from 20 to 300 plus and bandwidth goes up and down.  It's not just cod it's all games

Unless you have Fiber, you have a modem. That box you have is most likely a gateway, modem and router in one box.

Like we said, more than enough bandwidth for what you need. There is something else going on, on your network to cause this issue. To put it in to context with a 75/10 connection I had at one time, we had 3 HD streaming going and gaming happening, no issue.

I think something is going on, not sure what at this point. Does BT offer xDSL or Cable (Coax) connection?

No just VDSL

aDSl, vDSL it all runs on the same copper. Besides the issues with the games, any other issues? Im wondering if your connection is not stable. Possibly an issue with the gateway, or could be a wiring issue.

If you can post your modems stats. Lets see if there is a signal issue.

ngineer sorted wiring here and at the box,

Its the stuff outside the building you need to be concerned with. Anything exposed to the elements. Also, signals can change based on temperature. So signals can be good in the summer and go to shit in the winter time.

I compared your results to here: https://www.dslreports.com/faq/6734

Yes it say ATT, they are the US equivalent of BT. They offer xDSL and Fiber services. Just not to my address. It looks like your in spec. BUT I see in the Noise Margin: 15.6/7.0. The 7.0 is a concern. Im guessing the first value is upstream and the last value is downstream. If thats the case your on the edge of being connected, at that value, disconnects can happen.

SN Margin (AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio)
Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. 6dB is generally the lowest dB manufactures specify in order for the modem to be able to synch. In some instances interleaving can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. Generally speaking, as overall bandwidth increases, your signal to noise ratio decreases. A customer that upgrades from 1.5 to 6.0 (or provisioned with the MaxSync Profile) will typically see a corresponding decrease in the signal to noise ratio. This is normal and nothing to worry about. The higher the number the better for this measurement.
bred.gif6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems
bred.gif7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
bred.gif11dB-20dB is good with no synch problems
bred.gif20dB-28dB is excellent
bred.gif29dB or above is outstanding

Line Attenuation
Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. One of the biggest factors affecting line attenuation is distance from the DSLAM. Generally speaking, bigger distances mean higher attenuation. The lower the dB the better for this measurement.
bred.gif20dB and below is outstanding
bred.gif20dB-30dB is excellent
bred.gif30dB-40dB is very good
bred.gif40dB-50dB is good
bred.gif50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
bred.gif60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues
