I just got some second hand ECC ram blocks (8x4GB) for my personal server. I was running with 2x4GB non-ecc blocks before.

The problem is that the system won't even turn on with the ecc memory. I have tried to boot with all 8 sticks in the system and I have tried to boot with only one stick. Nothing helps. I then tried to boot with 8x4gb non ecc and there was no problems. The motherboard and cpu should be compatible with ecc. My spec are

Intel Xeon E5-2643 0

Intel DX79TO

The new ram is Samsung M393B5170FH0-CH9

Error codes is tree long beeps which intel translates as memory error

Post code is 60 which intel translates to B0 - Boot devices, resetting fixed media.

The system initialization LEDs lights in F which is memory initialization

The system status LEDs lights in F which is CPU error.

I have tried to clear cmos and reboot with the "back to bios" option on the mb.

Run the new memory in single, dual and quad mode.

Am I missing something? Do I have to enable ECC in the bios while booted with the non ecc memory?

Can anyone help me?

Sorry for my poor English, it's not my first language.
