Looking to upgrade cpu

Harry9856

Hey everyone I've got a fx6300 running at 4.56 which has done me well for years but it's showing its age and I'm wondering where I'd best go next it's paired with a msi gtx 1070 gaming x running at 2100 and both sides at 4567mhz together. I was think a 4790k to get the hyper threading but I've noticed prices have dropped on 6700k below a 4790k but what would my best bet be to run 1080p 120hz on anything I through at it. As rught now I'm averaging 47 to 53 fps in both ac origins and odyssey which both are the most demanding I've got but they are both maxed at 1080p 83hz as I lose frames if it's not. Any help would be appreciated.

Just get a Ryzen 5 1600/2600/3600. Old i7s aren't worth the money if changing platform

My only issue is I'm on a fixed budget and it's gaming I'm looking at any sound recording I'll be doing will be okay with 8 threads. And really I don't think I can afford the ddr4 jump as I need the 16gb

Devils canyon is fine. It's just the 1600 costs 100 pounds and is vastly superior. Add 50-60 pounds for a B450 Pro4 board and you can still get 16GB DDR4

Also why would increasing my cpu clock speed and still be at about 50s would I lose performance on my fx 6300 I can have is stable 1.47v at 4.97ghz but 4.34ghz at 1.34ish runs way better in all situations

There are multiple security flaws in th 6700K. Spectre, Meltdown, Foreshadow, etc. Take your pic. But the 1600 is simply faster for work and equivalent in games. It makes no sense to buy an older, slower CPU on an outdated platform like 1150

IPC on the ryzen is way better than the FX series, especially for the 3000 series.

i came from a 8330 and went to the 1700, i noticed its about twice as fast, the 3000 series is even faster, which has higher IPC than intel can currently offer.

also there should be an update comming to the 3000 series, making it Zen2+ (?) so you can still upgrade on the AM4 platform next year, if that is even needed.

Gamesystem: X3700, 32GB memory @3200mhz, GTX1080 Hybrid

Unraid system: Epyc 7352, 24/48, 96GB ECC buffered @2666mhz, 2x GT710, GTX1050Ti

Okay where I am ryzen 5 3000 series is over 250 pound for the cpu time I add board and ram it's far to much for me limited to about 250 for board cpu and ram if needed also what do security stuff have to do with the 6700k

Look, if you want an older i7 with tons of security issues, get that. Were telling you a six core 1600 is better. I have an i7 and I'm telling you, get a Ryzen 5
