Ram Issue Help

Motherboard: Gigabyte ga z97x-sli lga 1150

Ram: g.skill ripjaws x series 16 gb (2x8) ddr3 1866

Processor: Intell Core i7 4790k

I might want to sell my old computer in the future, but I have an issue with the ram where i might not beable to sell all of the machine.

The ram only works in the 1 and 2 slot positions instead of 1 and 3 like normal modern pc's. I don't know how dual channel or single channel ram works

I've tried all other combinations and even tried putting 4 of the same modules in.

I was wondering if that's a thing with the type of motherboard I have, is it a setting I need to configure,

or is something wrong with the ram slots or bent cpu pins?

I kind of sounds like a bad board or maybe CPU.

What happened when you populated all four RAM slots?

It just wouldn't boot at all. Either that or it would boot cycle loop I cant remember it was a long time ago.

I was hoping there would be a better way to trouble shoot it or an easy fix.

I will probably have to buy a cheap ram kit that has all 4 sticks to test a full kit mine were 2 sets of the same dual kit a year appart. I sold the other set.

and check my cpu for bent pins.

It sucks that I cant sell my cpu or motherboard

hmm I guess I could also buy a cheap z97x mobo just to test the cpu that would be a hassle tho.
