Hey there, there's a little problem that I've had once yesterday and once today.

At a random moment, for example one time when playing cs go and the other when idling on youtube, my mouse begins to lag and jump, eventually won't react anymore and everything just freezes. The only thing I can then do is hold the power button and restart manually.

Does anyone know what the source of this is and/or how to fix it?

Thanks!

  • 1 month later...

Excuse me for the bump, but to give an update on this, it solved itself after a few days of frustration, but today it started again. Does nobody has experience with or answers for this? Thanks :)

what kind of mouse is it and what usb port(usb 2.0/3.0) is it in?

It's a logitech G400s in a USB 2.0 port, but I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. It's not only the mouse that starts lagging. What happens is that I head my HDD ramp up, then my screen starts lagging, freezing for a second every time, and it gets worse every second. This happens about once a day, then it doesn't happen anymore until the next day.

To me it sounds like heavy HDD usage. Have you ever sat through to see how long it lasts? I would guess its probably just windows creating a restore point or defragmenting your drive so check if those are on a schedule and maybe change the time to something more suitable if they are.

what graphics card do you have? when playing video does the video lag along with the input devices?

I have a GTX 770, but the computer itselfs lags completely, not only the screen.

Thanks, I'm not home atm but when I'm back I'll check that! I suspected something like heavy hdd usage but had no idea what the source could be :)
