I’m having CPU usage problems

Go to solution Solved by Fasauceome,

Damn gotta download your parts list? I suggest replacing that with a good old pcpartpicker list.

As for the download using up all CPU resources, not surprising. The 8350 has a lot of shared resources between the cores so once the download is over with you will see the usage go down, but I believe there's a download speed limiter in the epic games launcher that will make it so that the CPU is handling a lot less data all at once.

I added a list of my parts down below, I think I did pretty well with the price on some of the parts. The cpu was brand new, the graphics card was well taken care of and only used for around 2 months prior to my build. I’m having trouble playing terraria, and shellshock. I’m pretty sure this pc should be able to handle these games at least, but it keeps “bottlenecking” the usage to almost 100% every time.

I’m downloading rainbow six currently from epic games, it’s the only thing running and it’s kicked 100% again.

Does anyone know what the issue may be? It’s a fresh build and it’s my first build.

Just open your task manager and see what's using all of your CPU.

Dunno what that performance monitoring software is, but you should probably just turn that off too as it may be affecting performance.

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Okay, thanks. It’s still eating a big portion of it up.

I have avast running as well, but I suppose I need it for an antivirus

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Just uninstall avast lol, all it's doing is spying on you, anit-virus software is basically useless.

I've never installed the epic launcher so I don't know if that's normal, dunno why it would need to do that though anyways.

Okay, that performance monitor you were questioning comes with advanced system care.

I’ll uninstall avast.

Even if it's an FX chip, it's not like steam ever used 100% of your CPU while downloading a game.

It seems to just be a thing with the epic launcher

Steam's download manager doesn't allow the CPU to get used up all the way, but if it could the download speeds could be improved. Generally it's good practice to have a download limiter on by default, the battle.net launcher does as well, but epic does not seem to do so and hogs CPU usage.

Even if I saturate my 100mbps connection my CPU never even gets close to being used much during a download.

It’s not just this launcher, it’s in terraria, and shellshock as well. Not sure if they’re heavy cpu games. But they’re not playable currently with it bumping to 100% on both.

Probably just try a clean install of windows sometime to start with

A clean install or also trying to repar the OS with the following commands may help:

1. CHKDSK

2. sfc /scannow
