Cannot Implement NVidia Surround

I have a pair of EVGA GTX 1080 cards in my system.  One of my cards is powering a pair of AOC Q2778VQE and the other card is powering a AOC Q3277FQE in the center.  While I understand that Surround does not work because the monitors are not identical, what I do not understand is why!!  All the monitors can achieve the same resolution and at the same refresh rate, so why does it not work??

Just search around, there's likely some way you can force it to work.

Otherwise at least a bigger NAVI card is coming out eventually? Not that it would be much faster anyways.
