Hello,

I am having a problem with my GPU fan speed

Fan speed is always at 3200+ RPM, even when idle

EVGA precision shows 40% and 3200 RPM

When I set it to 100% - percentage does change, but RPM stays the same

GTX 980, win 7 x64, latest NVIDIA drivers, tried DDU

I've tried afterburner as well

And it also does not allow me to reduce fan speed

GPU temp is quite low, why does the fan rev up to full speed at 35C?

Check the fan curve by clocking on the gear beside fan speed:image.png.7fb2a11759392c8ff9b41294a8a7efa9.png

A popup box will show and click ok, here you will be able to adjust the fan speed based on temperature, the yellow dotted line is your min and max fan speed:

But you can leave it, or adjust it to your own liking. Click ok. Then make sure you have it set to auto fan speed (When auto fan speed is enabled there should be a grey box):

Don't forget to hit that check mark after you are done to accept changes.

I've just tried 2 different curves: default and custom one

None of them seemed to have any effect on fan speed (GPU temp was around 30C)

Screenshot from GPUZ shows that 40% fan speed = 3200rpm (same as EVGA precision)

And it is actually really loud, so smth is wrong here. It is not 40%, it's 100% for sure

Visually all 3 fans seem to spin at the same speed

Are you using an EVGA GTX 980 or something else?

Sorry, forgot to mention that

It's GTX 980 HOF by Galax/KFA2

Also, an update, after 3+ days fan speed came back to normal on its own

Still, I think that it might be dead, because when I try to game on it, I get crashes/artifacts/"GPU driver stopped working" issue
