Can anybody explain this?

Hi,

 

 

Almost always when I unplug my desk fan from the same power strip as my pc is plugged into. The pc wakes from sleep by itself. it only happens when the desk fan is on and it can happen when plugging the desk fan in or taking it out. Can anybody explain why this is affecting my pc?

 

 

 

Btw. don't notice the mess of cables and my foot ?

Main PC:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | RAM:Corsair LPX 3200 mhz (16Gb) 

Mobo:ASUS Strix B550-F Wifi | GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z

Case: Sharkoon Nightshark RGB| Storage: 500 GB 970 EVO Plus 1 TB WD blue 500 GB Samsung HDD

Monitor: iiyama G-Master G2470HSU-B1 165Hz

Powersupply: Be Quiet straight Power 10 500 watt

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H | RAM: Team group 16 GB 2666 mhz

GPU: RTX 2060 (MXM swappable)

Monitor: 1080p 120Hz

Storage: 2x 1 TB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe (no raid)

 

 

Second Laptop

CPU: Intel Core I5 1235u,  RAM: Samsung 8 GB 3200 mhz

GPU: IrisXe 80 eu

Storage: 512 GB WD Digital SN530 NVMe

 

Phone:

Xiaomi MI 11

 

Work Phone:

Galaxy A50

First thing I noticed was...

But anyway, the issue is probably because of grounding. If it were me I'd buy a better quality power strip, preferably one with surge protection built in.

Could be a voltage change causing it to flip shit a bit, but could also be subpar grounding (which is honestly more likely).

I looked and I don't have that option in the bios. :)

Yes you do.  All ATX motherboards have it.

 

It may be worded differently, but it's in there.

 

Unfortunately, the online manual for that board sucks rocks so I can't find it for you.

Well I found that the option ''AC back'' is the closest thing you described. But it was set to off. Could it be that this another Gigabyte bios flaw? I had problems in the past with the bios and will probably not buy another gigabyte motherboard again.

"AC back" sounds like the right thing, but if it's already set to off... 

 

Tomorrow I'm going to find a Gigabyte board to fire up and confirm that's the setting.  But it sure sounds like it.  It was in the power tab, right?

I'm using a Gigabyte board. AC BACK is indeed the setting you are looking for.
